Want a pink laptop?

Well, the Apple iBook doesn’t come in that color, and even if it does, it will be way too expensive for most people’s budgets.

The Sony Vaio is an excellent choice, as well, but it’s not really what we can describe as affordable.
Other options?  Most don’t come in pink while other simply don’t have the history of reliability that the more established brands possess.

But wait.  Don’t lose hope just yet.

Lenova, one of the leading names in consumer electronics, has released a laptop for the masses, and yes, it comes in marvelous pink.  The Ideapad S10 1GB 160GB Pink is a dream come true for students and casual computer users.  It comes with a plethora of features, and more importantly, it comes at a price that won’t burn your finances.

At less than $400, the Lenova Ideapad S10 1GB 160GB Pink can be considered a steal.  Consider the following features that can easily make this laptop the envy of many similar items, including those published by the more renowned brands:

- 1.6 Ghz processor.  Not as powerful as the dual cores of newer laptops, but not a slouch either.  It is enough for the usual tasks that a computer is expected to fulfill, as well as games that aren’t graphic-intensive.
- 512 MB RAM, upgradable to 1.5 GB.  Not bad, as well.  May have difficulties running Windows Vista, but why on God’s green earth would you want to install that OS, right?
- A total of 160 GB storage space.  This is quite a sizable built-in capacity for a laptop.
- Built-in 4-in-1 card reader for easy synching of your other gadgets.
- 10.2” TFT LCD screen, anti-glare, capable of widescreen displays, and has a max resolution of 1024×600.
- Intel GMA 950 Dynamic Video Memory Technology 3.0 graphics processor.  Not really apt for the games of today, but the Lenova Ideapad S10 isn’t really meant as a gaming rig.  The graphics processor is more than enough for the tasks that this laptop is built for.
- Built-in 1.3 megapixel camera.

Despite not having cutting edge components, the Lenova Ideapad S10 1GB 160GB Pink is no slouch.  And for its price, it’s a definite bargain indeed!
However, do be forewarned about some issues regarding this laptop model:

- Battery life is suspect.  Some report normal expectancy, while others complain of abnormally short service per charge.
- Keyboard can be very small for big fingers.
- Heats up easily because of a weak fan.  May need an external cooling source.

Also, some owners claim that the pink casing of the Lenova Ideapad S10 1GB 160GB accumulates dirt quite easily.  

But hey, that’s a given and it doesn’t really matter.  It’s pink and that’s what’s important!

The Lenova Ideapad S10 1GB 160GB Pink is an excellent purchase.  You’d be hard pressed to find a brand new laptop of a similar value for the same price.

In the past 3 years, various lines of budget-friendly laptops – labeled as “laptops for the masses” by some critics in media – have flooded the market.  

These highly affordable portable computers immediately found a dedicated audience.  The need for inexpensive laptops is huge.  With the speed by which businesses are carried out in this highly competitive world and given the expediency and efficacy expected from product/service providers these days, work is being executed everywhere and not just within the confines of the workplace.  Coffee shops are flooded with yuppies with their laptops spread out on every available table.  Bars have witnessed good food, great beer and shiny iBooks in the past months.  And in one state, a statute is being deliberated on, one that will outlaw people from using their laptops while driving.

Enter the Asus EEE line of affordable laptops.  In the past 36 months, Asus has won a great portion of the market because, well, it is one of the most inexpensive laptops you can ever find in store shelves.   Boasting of a price that is less than $300, the Asus EEE, particularly the Asus EEE 2G Surf, is pretty hard to beat.  You’d expect a product that is as cheap as such to be downright ugly, but on the contrary, the Asus EEE 2G Surf is one of the prettiest, cutest and hippest laptops available today.

And guess what?

The Asus EEE 2G Surf comes in wonderful pink!  

Want to go for that Legally Blonde look but you’re on a tight budget?  Then the Asus EEE 2G Surf is the right choice for you!

Bear in mind, however, that though the pink Asus EEE 2G Surf is a thing of absolute beauty, is has its limitations.  Such cannot be avoided, given the price it demands.  These limitations include:

- This model only has 2GB of internal memory.  Allowance must be reserved for the operating system, which will leave free memory at roughly 300MB.  This model’s memory can be extended via external storage, however.
- Resolution is only 800×480 pixels.
- Operating system is Linux.  If you are used to Windows, you will consider this a negative.  Linux, however, is very intuitive and user-friendly.  You’d learn how to navigate through the features in under 5 minutes.  But, since the OS isn’t a Microsoft product, you’d have to rely on open source programs in lieu of the basics you have become accustomed to.
- RAM is only at 512MB, which is quite slow by today’s standards.
- Model will not connect to WiFi automatically.  You will have to press a button to do that.
- Keyboard is too small.

But at less than $300?  The Asus EEE 2G Surf is a fantastic bargain despite these limitations.
